Along side teaching classes weekly, many of the full time instructors practice on the side as well, keeping them well versed in the modern and newly developing technologies in Cosmetology today.

Renza Nassab brings over 20 years of Cosmetology. She is Certified Cosmetologist, State of California and North Carolina and an active member of Cosmetology Educators of America, Board of Barbering and Cosmetology and Faculty Association of California
Community Colleges.

Experience
My methods and teaching strategies are based on her real life experience in various
Cosmetology Industries (Barbering, Dermatology, SkinCare,Permanent make-up and Esthetics). She has taught at the Cosmetology department of Solano and San Mateo/Skyline Community Colleges and was named Teacher of the year in 2007 from Solano Community College. Renza has worked for various Vocational Cosmetology and Beauty Colleges and she owned and operated cosmetology and barbering salons in state of California and North Carolina

          Sandra Honesto, a San Jose native, a full time faculty with the Cosmetology Department at SJCC. I bring 18 years of experience in the Cosmetology industry, completed the Cosmetology Teacher Trainee Program at SJCC Cosmetology Department and became full time faculty in September of 2004. I enjoy all aspects of working within the Cosmetology industry, but teaching has allowed me an opportunity to share my knowledge and passion to our future Cosmetology professionals.

Hugo Torres

Instructor Image         Hugo Torres Has over 30 years teaching experience. He has taught at Montebello Beauty College in Montebello CA, Miss Marty’s, Hilltop Beauty College, San Mateo and Skyline Community College. Hugo has been at San Jose Community College as adjunct since January 2005 and as of September is full time faculty.

Karen Lane

Karen Lanes Photo         Karen has been working the the field for 19 years after a career change from the medical lab world. Her initial training began at Westgate Beauty College followed by training at Sassoon and Gary Gerard. She acquired advanced training in aromatherapy, Feng Shui and personal coaching believing creating a beautiful person involves inner beauty as well as outer. She taught in the Esthetician Program at SJCC for three years acquiring advanced training at International Dermal Institute. She is now teaching in cosmetology. Her credentials include a BA in Biology, cosmetology teacher training, licensure as a cosmetology instructor and membership in the CCA.

Susie Zagar's Photo            Susie Zagar – Has worked in the cosmetology field for 30 + years.  Susie has her AS degree in Cosmetology from San Jose City College.  She has worked for the SJCC Cosmetology Department for 5 years.  Her specialty areas are Hair extensions and Hair color. In her spare time she enjoys attending advanced educational courses, playing golf with her husband, visiting with her children and walking her dogs.

Rosemarie Ferrari Bryan

Rosemarie's Picture          Rosemarie is an 18-year veteran Cosmetology educator and a native of Northern California.
       Rosemarie discovered her love of education early in her career - line, design, and color have always been her passion.
       She studied Interior Design at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She completed her basic training in Cosmetology at Don's Beauty School in San Mateo.
She holds the following credentials from the California State Board of Cosmetology -
       Licensed Cosmetologist, Licensed Cosmetology Instructor, and Licensed Esthetician.
       She completed courses of advanced training at Jingle's Hairdressing Academy in London, England, at Framesi in Milan, Italy, at Yosh in Palo Alto, and at Gary Gerrard's Academy in San Francisco.
       She has taught at several schools in the Bay Area - Don's Beauty School, Skyline Community College, Miss Marty's Academy, and San Jose City College, using both
the Milady and Pivot Point curricula. She has been an active supporter of CCA, as a former member of the Fashion
Committee, and as a former Judge for CCAcompetitions.

Yelena Lipina's Photo Ada has been {nthefield of cosmetologyfor over 35 years, among which she owned and operated several salons. She then decided to take on the challenge of becoming an Instructor of Cosmetology. Her first position
as an Instructor was at Skyline Community College in San Bruno, CA. Presently, Ada is teaching the Esthetics Program at San Jose City College.

Education: California Cosmetology License; Instructor's License;
California Community College Instructor Credential; A.A. San Jose City
College; numerous classes and received Certificate of Completion from
many of the advanced classes that she attends at least 4 or 5 times a
year; also attends at least 3 major trade shows a year to be able to
introduce the latest methods and technology to our students in order to
prepare them for their future. Ada Completed Phase I and Phase II classes in Berkeley 1983 - 84. Attended 240 hours of Master Education Classes with Lenar Learning Group which involved two weeksends a year.

Personal: Is a single mom and raised her two sons since they were very
small boys and accomplished all of the above while being there for them.
Enjoys going to concerts, having dinners with friends, likes to read and
listen to music. Also enyoys updating older homes and currently is in the
process of doing so. Her main joy in life are her two grandchildren.

Goals: Plan to start traveling more during the school breaks and introduce her grand children to theater. art exhibits and nature.

Yelena Lipilina

       With more than 20 years experience in the art of beauty, Yelena Lipilina resides as a lead instructor in the San Jose City College Esthetician Department        With teaching experience at the College of San Mateo and Miss Marty’s Hair Academy and Esthetics Institute, Yelena has brought warmth and humor to countless students.
“My goal is to provide the highest possible level of training and inspiration to all students,” she said.
       After receiving a rich education including a BA in Pedagogy & Speech therapy at the University of St. Petersburg, Yelena was trained at the Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture in New York. Additionally, she is a graduate Master Educator at Milady’s Career Institute and a prestigious Cidesco Diplomat.
       Yelena’s vast professional experience includes the legendary Elizabeth Arden Salon, as well as Visage Medical Day Spa, Mr. Lee Salon and Spa, and Lancôme Beauty Institute.
       Her expertise spans stress-reducing facials, acne treatments, glycolic peels, lymphatic drainage massage, lash and brow tinting, facial and body waxing and treatments, and makeup.
       She was honored with the Outstanding Faculty Award in Feb. 2007, by SJCC Associated Students Hall of Excellence.
