San Jose City fell just short of its first ever trip to the State Final Four, losing 3-2 in the Super Regional Championship to Diablo Valley College. The loss capped off San Jose City's magical postseason run, concluding one of the most prolific season in school history. The 2009 Jags set a modern SJCC with 35 wins and advanced the farthest of any baseball squad in recent memory. The 35 wins were the most of any team in the Golden Gate Conference and SJCC advanced farther than any team in the entire 16 Team Coast Conference divisional grouping. The 2009 Jags will be remembered for their heart and grit, while playing unbelievable baseball through many levels of adversity.

Game Notes:
San Jose City continued it's magical postseason run by beating #2 seed Merced College this past weekend in a best of 3 series. The 15th seeded Jaguars lost the first game to the Blue Devils 8-7 in 11 innings. That put the Jags in the position to have to beat Merced twice on Saturday to advance. With inspired play and a relentless attack, SJCC defeated Merced 12-4 and 8-4 Saturday to advance to the Super Regionals. With only 8 teams remaining in Northern California, the Jaguars have advanced farther than any SJCC team in recent memory. The Jags will play in the Ohlone Super Regional this upcoming weekend. The Super Regional consists of SJCC, Ohlone, Diablo Valley, and Consumes River. The 4 teams will play a double elimination tournament to see who will advance to the State Final Four in Fresno. Along with San Mateo, SJCC is the only team left standing from the Golden Gate Conference. Game start times will be posted on the SJCC Athletics Website.

Game Notes:
The Jaguars passed their first test in the California State Playoffs by beating Marin College 7-6. Gino Valletta provided much of the offense for SJCC with a 2-run RBI single and a leadoff triple to score the winning run for the Jags. Nick Loredo tossed 6 1/3 innings to get the win, while Don Medlinger picked up his first save of the year by getting the final 3 outs with runners in scoring position to hold off Marin. The Jags travel to Merced College to play Merced in a best of 3 series this Friday and Saturday. The winner will advance to the Super Regional.

San Jose City received the 15th seed in the Northern California Playoffs and will face Marin College, Tuesday at 2:00pm at Gavilan College. If they advance, the Jaguars will face #2 Merced College at Merced this Friday and Saturday.

Game Notes:
San Jose City played it's final regular season game of the year Thursday, beating City College of San Francisco 6-5. The win brought the Jaguars to 29-14 overall, and 17-8 in Golden Gate Conference play. The 29 wins are the most of any JC in Santa Clara County, and are a staggering amount considering the amount of adversity this SJCC team has endured. Andrew Castaneda was the offensive star of the game, coming up with 2 RBI hits, including the walk off winner in the bottom of the 9th inning. Don Medlinger pitched 7 strong innings, while Harold Zosel pitched the 9th to pick up his 5th win of the year. The Jags will learn their playoff seeding and opponent Sunday morning at the Northern California seeding meeting.

San Jose City secured it's berth in the State Playoffs by defeating De Anza Colege 5-3 on Tuesday. The Jags were led on the mound by Nick Loredo, pitching 8 strong innings while picking up his 8th win of the year. Harold Zosel pitched a scoreless 9th to rack up his 4th save of the year. Josiah Rodriguez was the hitting star of the game, going 3/4 with a towering home run to put SJCC ahead for good in the 6th inning. SJCC will host City College of San Francisco Thursday at Blethen field, 2:00pm, for its final regular season game. The Jaguars currently sit at 28-14 overall, and 16-8 in Golden Gate Conference play.

The San Jose City Jaguars inched closer to a Golden Gate Conference Championship by defeating West Valley College 4-2 on Thursday. The Jags were led by a complete game by Don Medlinger (8-1), who did not surrender an earned run. The offensive attack was paced with RBI hits from Danny Nelson, Brett Itatani, and Gino Valletta. With 3 games to go, the Jaguars are only 1 game out of first place. They travel to Skyline College Saturday for a 12:00pm start.

In a game filled with errors and sloppiness, San Jose City outlasted Mission College 10-9 on Tuesday afternoon. Andrew Castaneda was the offensive star for the Jags, providing a much needed spark with his blazing speed... including bunting in the game winning run. Nick Loredo started the game and pitched 6 strong innings. Harold Zosel got the win in relief (4-0), while Steven Amaral pitched the 9th to pick up his 5th save of the year. The win kept the Jaguars in 2nd place, within striking place of 1st place with 4 games remaining. The Jaguars will travel to West Valley College to take on the Vikings, Thursday at 2:00pm

Game Notes:
San Jose City's furious late comeback fell just short, as the Jags fell to Chabot College 9-6 in Golden Gate Conference action. The Jaguars were down 9-0 going into the 7th, but plated 6 runners in the top of the 7th to get within striking distance. The tying run came up to the plate for SJCC in the 7th and the 9th, but the Jags were not able to bring the final runs home. The loss brings the Jaguars overall record to 25-13, and 13-7 in conference play. SJCC returns to action this upcoming Tuesday versus Mission College at De Anza college with a 2:00 start time.

Game Notes:
San Jose City exploded with their most impressive victory of the year by beating the College of San Mateo 22-4 at Blethen Field. The two teams were previously tied for 2nd place in the Golden Gate Conference, but the Jaguars left no doubt as to who the better team is. The victory secured the season sweep of CSM by San Jose City. Greg Fujii and Zach Canez each homered for the Jags, as the offensive explosion saw SJCC score 20 runs in the first 2 innings. Don Medlinger pitched 5 innings for his 7th win of the year. Jakob Zamora, Steven Amaral, and Harold Zosel all provided relief to close out the win. The win brings SJCC to 25-12 overall and 13-6 in conference play. The Jaguars travel to Chabot College on Saturday for a 12:00pm start.

San Jose City continued it's dramatic run through the 2009 State Playoffs by defeating the #2 seed Merced College in the best out of 3 Regional series. The #15 Jaguars dropped the series opener Friday night 8-7 in 11 innings. The Jags came storming back Saturday, defeating the host Blue Devils 12-4 in the first game, and 8-4 in the second game of the doubleheader. The Jags advance to the Super Regionals next weekend at Ohlone College. The Super Regional is composed of Ohlone, SJCC, Consumes River, and Diablo Valley. The Jags will take on Ohlone College first Friday, game time to be announced.

San Jose City took 2 out of 3 games on their 2-day road trip to play West Hills College in Coalinga. On Wednesday afternoon the Jaguars put up 10 runs to defeat West Hills 10-2. In the morning cap of Thursday's doubleheader, SJCC squandered many opportunities and lost the game to the hosts in the bottom of the ninth 2-1. In the second game of Thursday's doubleheader, the Jaguars exploded for 22 runs to defeat West Hills 22-7. The series victory brings the Jaguars overall record to 23-12. SJCC returns to Golden Gate Conference play on Tuesday, traveling to Gavilan College for a 2:00pm game.

San Jose City got back to its usual winning ways, defeating City College of San Francisco 6-1 at Balboa Park. Don Medlinger was the star of the game, pitching 8 innings and only surrendering 1 run. Josiah Rodriguez got the scoring started for the Jags in the top of the 1st with a 2 out, 2 RBI single. Greg Fujii scored twice on the day and Danny Nelson put down a perfect squeeze to get the Jags their 6th run. SJCC is now 21-11 overall, and 11-6 in Golden Gate Conference play. The Jaguars take next week off of conference play, and will play West Hills College in Coalinga. First game of the series is Wednesday at 2:00pm, followed by a doubleheader on Thursday.

San Jose City dropped it's 5th conference game with a 10-2 loss to Canada on Tuesday. Curtis Van Waardenberg was the offensive star of the game with a solo home run. With the loss the Jaguars remain in second place, only one game back. The Jaguars are 20-10 overall and 10-5 in Golden Gate Conference play. The Jags play Ohlone College Thursday at 2:00pm at Blethen Field.

San Jose City lost a close game to the host, West Valley College, on Thursday 3-0. The Jaguars were not able to cash in on their opportunities against the Vikings. Nick Loredo pitched his 3rd complete game of the year for the Jags. Despite the loss, SJCC still sits atop the Golden Gate Conference at 20-8 overall, and 10-3 in conference play. Their next game is against Chabot College at Blethen Field, Saturday at 2:00pm.

San Jose City tallied it's 8th win in a row Tuesday night as the Jags defeated the De Anza College Dons 7-3 in front of a sizable crowd at Schott Stadium. Curtis Van Waardenberg led the balanced Jaguar offense attack with 2 hits on the night. Matt Burns picked up the win for the SJCC pitching staff. Burns struck out 8 De Anza batters while surrendering 0 earned runs in his 7 innings of work. The lefty solidified his hold on the lead for the conference ERA title. The win solidified SJCC's place at the top of the standings in the Golden Gate Conference with an overall record of 20-7, 10-2 in conference. The first place Jaguars take on the second place Vikings of West Valley Thursday at 2:00pm at West Valley College.

The first place San Jose City Jaguars notched an exciting, come from behind victory against Monterey Peninsula College Saturday, edging the Lobos 8-6 on Saturday. The Jags were down 5-0 in the 7th before scoring 4 runs in the top of the 7th, and 4 more in the top of the 9th. Gino Valletta had 2 RBI's and Greg Fujii had 2 hits to pace the SJCC offense. Dylan Auker provided 3 innings of solid relief to score the win and Harold Zosel came on with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th to get the save and preserve the win. The Jaguars are 19-7 overall, and 9-2 in Conference play. Their next game is Tuesday night at 7:00pm at Schott Stadium versus De Anza College.

SJCC delivered a dominating performance, beating 2nd place College of San Mateo 7-0 on Thursday. Nick Loredo had his best start of the year, going 8 innings and only surrendering 3 hits and 9 runs. The offensive stars for the Jags were Gino Valletta and Curtis Van Waardenberg. Valletta got the scoring started in the 3rd inning with a 2-run homerun and Van Waardenberg put the game out of reach in the 9th with a 3-run shot of his own. The victory puts the first place Jaguars at 18-7 overall, and 8-2 in Golden Gate Conference play. SJCC travels to Monterey on Saturday to take on MPC at 12:00pm.

The Jaguars notched it's most impressive win of the year with a 6-4 victory over Chabot College on Saturday. The total team effort put the Jaguars in First Place in the Golden Gate Conference. The offensive fireworks were started by Gino Valletta in the first inning with a towering 2 run homer to put the Jaguars ahead. Zach Canez, Danny Nelson, and AJ Almaraz all contributed key hits to pace the SJCC offense. Don Medlinger battled the high-powered all game, going 8 innings and giving up 4 runs. Harold Zosel pitched the 9th inning to pick up his first collegiate save. The win brings the Jaguars to 16-7 overall, and 6-2 in the Golden Gate Conference. Their next game is Tuesday Night, 7:00pm at Schott Stadium.

SJCC notched its most exiting win of the year with a walk-off 5-4 victory over the College of San Mateo. Danny Nelson provided the heroics with a line drive single up the middle to score Justin Lagman for the bottom of the 9th victory. Lagman reached base by driving in pinch-runner Nick Loredo to tie the game. Gino Valletta added a 2-run double to put the Jaguars on the board in the 4th inning.
Dylan Auker pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his first collegiate victory. Matt Burns pitched 5 strong innings giving up 2 earned runs, striking out 5 and walking 4. Harold Zosel relieved Burns in the top of the 6th and pitched 3 sparkling innings to put the Jags in the position to come back.
The win brings SJCC's overall record to 12-6 overall, and 2-1 in Golden Gate Conference play. The Jaguars take on Mission College on Friday, March 6th at 1:00pm at Canada College.

San Jose City recorded their first conference win with a 7-2 victory over City College of San Francisco. Matt Ellis was the hitting star of the game with 3 doubles. Don Medlinger pitched 6 strong innings with 7 strikeouts to get his 3rd win of the year. The victory put the Jaguars at a 1-1 mark in Golden Gate Conference play, with an 11-6 overall mark. SJCC takes on Mission College next Tuesday March 3rd at 2:00. The game will be played at De Anza College.

The Jaguars overcame a 5-0 nothing deficit to bring the score tied in the 7th inning but fell just short of a comeback victory, dropping the contest 7-6 in the final game of the series. Jakob Zamora pitched 5 1/3 innings of sparkling relief to keep the Jags in the contest. Andrew Castaneda provided a tape-measure home run to bring the Jaguars within 1 run in the 9th. The loss concludes SJCC's preseason schedule, where they finished 10-5.

Don Medlinger pitched 6 strong innings in the start, and was relieved by Harold Zosel. Zosel picked up his 3rd win of the season while Dylan Auker recorded his first collegiate save. San Jose City recorded its 3rd Golden Gate Conference victory with a 5-4 win over Hartnell College. Don Medlinger led the Jaguars on the mound, notching up his 3rd win of the year to bring his record to 3-0. Medlinger struck out 9 batters in 6 innings of work, while only walking 2 Hartnell batters.
Curtis Van Waardenberg led the Jaguar offensive attack with 3 hits. Matt Ellis and Gino Valletta each added RBI base hits to help SJCC secure the victory.
The win put the 2nd placed Jaguars at 3-2 in conference play and 13-7 overall. The Jags will play at De Anza College Tuesday, March 10 at 2:00pm.
