Tait Rafat:Tait Rafat enters his first season as the head coach for the 2006 San Jose City College women's volleyball team. His coaching duties will include athlete training and development, opponent scouting and evaluation, recruiting, team travel, equipment ordering and distribution, and summer camps.
     Rafat comes to San Jose CC after having coached as an assistant with the University of Nevada, Reno Volleyball team during the 2005-2006 season. Prior to UNR, Tait taught Physical Education, Health, and Adapted Physical Education for eight years, six years teaching in the Denali Borough and Anchorage School Districts in Alaska and two years in the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. While teaching he coached high school volleyball, basketball, and club volleyball.
     He spent the last 25-years living primarily in Alaska but splitting time between being home schooled in Strelna, Alaska and the public schools in Las Vegas.
     A 1989 graduate of Soldotna High School in Soldotna, Alaska he attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he served as the manager for the Rebels men's basketball team for three seasons. He received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from UNLV in 1996 and a master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Sports Management from NOVA Southeastern University in 2006.
     He is CAP level 1 accredited by USA Volleyball as well as being a certified volleyball conditioning specialist. He is also a member of the American Volleyball Coach's Association, USA Volleyball, Northern California Volleyball Association, and the CBVA.
     In his free time he enjoys playing sand and grass volleyball, hunting with his chocolate labs, Copper and Mahi, fishing and riding snowmobiles in the mountains of Tahoe and Alaska.
     He and his wife of six years, Shannon have two daughters, three-year old Aleah and four-month old Maya. 

Coach Sarah Sarah Kolstad: Sarah Kolstadenters her third year as assistant coach for the Jags.  Kolstad began her playing career at Del Mar High School where she was Junior of the Year in 2001, and Most Valuable Player in 2002 for the Santa Teresa division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.  She then moved on to play for the San Jose City Jags were she was a two-time All Coast Conference award winner. After two years at SJCC, Kolstad finished her volleyball career at Cal State East Bay.  At CSUEB she was a two-time All West Region, an All-American honorable mention, and awarded Scholar Athlete in 2007.
Kolstad worked two years for Golden Bear Volleyball Club out of Berkeley as an assistant coach.  Her 16-1’s team finished 11th in the American Division of the Junior Olympics in 2006.  She currently coaches for Stingray Volleyball Club out of San Jose, CA.    
Kolstad received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology at Cal State East Bay and her Master’s Degree in Kinesiology at Saint Mary’s College. She is currently the Fitness Program Manager for Visa, Inc. in Foster City, CA.


Justine Justine Pingue : Justine Pingue enters her first year as a Jaguar assistant coach.

Pingue started playing volleyball as a young girl at Britton Middle School and continued onto Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill. She was a starting setter throughout her high school years. As a senior in 2003, she led her Cinderella Varsity team to the championship round of CCS and received the Coach's award for her outstanding leadership efforts. In 2005, she took undertook the challenge and tried out for San Jose State's Divison I Women's Team as a 'walk on' and played as a Spartan Defensive Specialist.

Since 2003, Pingue has head coached Adrenaline, Garlic City, and Point Break volleyball power leagues, ages 12-17. She also head coached for Martin Murphy Middle School for 4 years and Live Oak High School for 3 years.

Pingue received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise and Fitness at San Jose State University in 2009. In her free time she kick-boxes, competes in grass and sand volleyball tournaments, and loves to camp and hike. She also had two dogs she adores Pixie and Bella, a Pomeranian Poodle mix and a Maltese.

 

Coach Kevin Kevin Lord: Kevin Lord comes to San Jose City College with a wealth of volleyball knowledge and playing experience. He has played volleyball for 7 years, primarily as an Outside Hitter and Middle Blocker. He started playing for Fisher Middle School in 2004.  After that he played locally for some of the better club teams in the area, playing on Apex from 2005 –20 08.  In 08, he changed club teams to play for powerhouse club Bay to Bay and played through the 09 season earning a trip to the JO’s in the process.  Kevin also played at Los Gatos High School where he was on JV for two years earning the league MVP title in 07.  In 08 and 09 Kevin played on the varsity team earning two trips to the CCS finals where they lost close battles to Bellarmine College Prep.  In his senior season his team set the California state win record with a record of 43 – 4.  After high school Kevin left to play at NAIA powerhouse Missouri Valley College. There Kevin started at OH as freshmen and played through the 2010 season.  For personal reasons, Kevin did not return to the team for the 11 season and came back to the Bay area to start his coaching experience. His primary responsibility this season at San Jose City  is all facets of  practice and on court instruction with the MB’s.
