Scholarship Information
The SJCC Scholarship Program includes scholarships sponsored by community organizations, businesses, campus organizations, and district/college faculty and staff. Specific requirements vary according to criteria set by each donor as well as the SJCC Scholarship Committee. The following points are generally given the most consideration:
- Academic Achievement – Grade Point Average
- Community Service
- Demonstrated talents and abilities
- Leadership Ability/Skills
- Educational & Vocational Objectives
- Commitment to education and community
- Financial Need (may be a factor, but seldom an exclusive factor)
- Quality of application (complete, neat, well written, etc.)

Scholarship Application Procedures
- Scholarship information, application and Personal Recommendation forms are posted on-line at: Scholarships
- Select the scholarships you want to apply for from the scholarship booklet on-line.
- Complete one application for each scholarship you are applying for, as well as all other required documents. Application forms are available on-line.
- Scholarships may require essays, letters of recommendation, graduation petition, or verification of eligibility to transfer. Some documents take time to acquire so plan ahead – allow two weeks or more to secure these documents. All required documents must be submitted with the application by the deadline.
NOTE: All applicants are required to submit the following:
- Complete 2010-2011 Scholarship Application (see application form for more details)
- Copies of all college transcripts (official or unofficial).
- Spring 2010 SJCC class schedule and/or class schedule from other schools you are attending during the Spring 2010 semester.
- Return complete scholarship application packets, including all required documents, to the Financial Aid Office by the stated deadline. Late applications will not be considered for award.
- Scholarship recipients will be contacted approximately two weeks before the Scholarship Award Ceremony. All recipients are required to attend the ceremony. If recipients are unable to attend, the Financial Aid Office must be notified prior to the ceremony.
- All recipients must write a thank you note to each donor they received scholarship awards from. These must be submitted prior to receiving your award, which will be available around the beginning of the Fall 2010 semester.
