Paying for higher education is challenging.  There are a variety of resources available to help you finance your education costs. This section includes:


Ways to Look for Financial Aid & Scholarships
Visit the SJCC Financial Aid Office for financial aid information at San José City College.

  • Visit the Transfer Center to browse the Eureka database of over 1,000 scholarships
  • Search the Internet or use the links on this page
  • Contact the four-year college or university you would like to attend for specific scholarships and financial aid procedures at their institution
Financial Aid & Scholarship Websites
  • CSU Financial Aid Information Outlines the steps to financial aid for students planning to attend a California State University.
  • Educaid.com – Explains the financial aid process step-by-step – from the types of aid to how to apply. Also, provides links to four-year university financial aid offices.
  • FAFSA – Submit your “Free Application for Federal Student Aid” online
  • Fast Web – This site helps you find scholarships for college. Match your background, with eligibility requirements for scholarships from around the country.
  • FinAid.org – The SmartStudent™ Guide to Financial Aid.  Includes information on loans, scholarships, military aid and more.
  • Scholarstuff.com – Provides links to many helpful financial aid resources links
  • UC Financial Aid Information – Information on financial aid options for students planning to attend a UC campus.

Community College Student Scholarships
Karl S. Pister Leadership Opportunity Award
– a $20,000 scholarship to attend UC Santa Cruz.  The scholarship recognizes students who have overcome adverse socioeconomic circumstances, who have a demonstrated commitment to assisting and improving the lives of others, and who might not otherwise be able to attend UCSC for financial reasons. Recipients receive $10,000 scholarships for each of two years, as well as the support of a strong academic mentoring program and assistance finding paid summer work experience in a field that complements their studies. Robert N. Chang Transfer Scholarship - a $14,000 scholarship for 8 students transferring from San José City College to a baccalaureate institution. The award is intended for highly motivated students who have overcome hardships, have succeeded academically and have clear goals, yet have demonstrated significant financial need. Recipients receive $7,000 scholarships for each of two years to attend the school of their choice.
