Special
Transfer Programs
San Jose
City College, in collaboration with select four-year institutions, have developed
the following special transfer programs to assist students in the transfer process.

- San Jose State University Spartan Connection
SJSU Spartan Connection is a transfer outreach program for African Americans,
Chicanos/Latinos and Native Americans. Program goals include increasing the
number of underrepresented students attending California Community Colleges,
who transfer to SJSU and encouraging and motivating underrepresented students
to seek a bachelor’s degree.

- UC Davis TOP Program
The UC Davis Transfer Opportunity Program (TOP) works with community colleges
to help prepare students for admissions to UC Davis and other UC campuses.
The UC Davis TOP advisor is available at San Jose City College every first
and third Wednesday of the month from 9:00am - 2:30pm to provide individual
and group advisement to students on admissions requirements to UC Davis.
- UC Santa Cruz Dual Admissions Program
The Dual Admissions Program is for community college students who have completed
up to 15 UC-transferable units. This program guarantees these students admission
to UC Santa Cruz as juniors after they successfully complete program requirements
at San Jose City College.
The following SJCC Special Programs also provide support for students to transfer:
- Puente – a culturally-based academic
program committed to increasing the recruitment, retention, graduation and
transfer rates of Latino students. Non-Latino students are welcome to apply.
- EOP&S/CARE – combines financial assistance
with support services that are designed to inform, recruit and help motivate
low-income students to continue their education.
- Honors Program – designed to
motivate students to excel in an intellectually stimulating environment.
- Umoja – provides services
to increase student retention for all students, with an emphasis on issues
and problems common to African-American students.
- C.A.R.R. Program
– (Creative Athletic Retention Response) promotes the importance of a college
education to student athletes.
