Special Transfer Programs

San Jose City College, in collaboration with select four-year institutions, have developed the following special transfer programs to assist students in the transfer process.  For more information, contact Zee Gibson, Transfer Center Director, at 408-288-3749.

  • San Jose State University Spartan Connection
SJSU Spartan Connection is a transfer outreach program for African Americans, Chicanos/Latinos and Native Americans.  Program goals include increasing the number of underrepresented students attending California Community Colleges, who transfer to SJSU and encouraging and motivating underrepresented students to seek a bachelor’s degree.
  • Transfer Admission Agreements
Click here to find out more about our guaranteed admissions programs with CSU Monterey Bay, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, UC Davis, UC Riverside and UC Santa Cruz.
  • UC Davis TOP Program
The UC Davis Transfer Opportunity Program (TOP) works with community colleges to help prepare students for admissions to UC Davis and other UC campuses. The UC Davis TOP advisor is available at San Jose City College every first and third Wednesday of the month from 9:00am - 2:30pm to provide individual and group advisement to students on admissions requirements to UC Davis.
  • UC Santa Cruz Dual Admissions Program
The Dual Admissions Program is for community college students who have completed up to 15 UC-transferable units. This program guarantees these students admission to UC Santa Cruz as juniors after they successfully complete program requirements at San Jose City College.

The following SJCC Special Programs also provide support for students to transfer:

  • Puente – a culturally-based academic program committed to increasing the recruitment, retention, graduation and transfer rates of Latino students. Non-Latino students are welcome to apply.
  • EOP&S/CARE – combines financial assistance with support services that are designed to inform, recruit and help motivate low-income students to continue their education.
  • Honors Program – designed to motivate students to excel in an intellectually stimulating environment.
  • Umoja – provides services to increase student retention for all students, with an emphasis on issues and problems common to African-American students.
  • C.A.R.R. Program – (Creative Athletic Retention Response) promotes the importance of a college education to student athletes.
