Transfer to a 4-year college in two years

The Transfer Express Program helps students complete the requirements for a transfer to a four-year college or university after two years of full-time study at San Jose City College.  Students in the program:

• Say goodbye to waitlists and filled classes due to priority registration!
• Complete the minimum admissions requirements for the UC and CSU systems  
• Are guaranteed admission to selected four-year institutions  
• Receive individualized priority counseling services
• Have access to four-year university representatives
• Are assisted with career & major development
• Receive special help with the transfer process in Guidance 10 “Transfer Success”
• Meet new friends who all share the same goal: transfer to a four-year institution

What you get:

·         Sense of Community - Take many of your courses with a small group of students who share the goal of transfer

·         No Scheduling Conflicts - Transfer Express courses are offered each semester without time conflicts

·         Priority Registration - You’re guaranteed to get your classes each semester!

·         Individual Counseling - Develop a rapport with one counselor who will know you and track your progress throughout your time at SJCC.

Who can join:

• Are you planning to transfer to a four-year university in two years?
• Are you eligible for English 1A in the fall?
• Are you prepared to take 12-18 units each semester?
• If you plan to have a job, will you work 20 hours per week or less?
• Are you eligible for Math 11 or higher in fall?
• Have you completed less than 15 units of transferable coursework?

If you answered “YES” to all of these questions, then Transfer Express is for you.

How to join:

To enroll in Transfer Express, first time students must:

(1)   Complete an SJCC application for admission

(2)   Take the English or ESL and Math placement exams
            (To schedule, call the Assessment Center at 288-3170)

(3)   Schedule an appointment with Summer Cox, the Transfer Express counselor

Transfer Express applications are accepted for the Fall Semester only
