What is the UC?
The University of California, or UC, awards bachelors, masters and doctorate
degrees. The UC campuses are internationally acclaimed as research institutions.
The UC system only accepts full-time, day students at the undergraduate level.
Currently, there are nine campuses in the UC System: The tenth campus, UC
Merced, is expected to open in 2004.
* Note: UC San Francisco, which primarily offers graduate-level health professional
programs, has its own application and filing procedures.
What are the UC Transfer Requirements?
If you wish to transfer to a UC campus as a junior, you must:
- Complete 60 semester units (or 90 quarter units) of transferable college
coursework with a grade point average of at least 2.4 (2.8 for non-California
residents)*, and
- Complete a course pattern requirement (with at least a C grade in each
course) to include:

If I missed the Application Filing Period, can I still apply?
Most UC campuses do not accept applications after the filing period. If
you apply after the filing period, check with the campus or online
to see if there are openings for submitting your application.
How can I get help filling out my UC application?
You can make an appointment with your counselor, come to the Transfer Center
to talk to our UC Representative or attend a UC
Application Workshop.
Does SJCC have Transfer
Admission Agreement (TAA) with any of the UC campuses?
Yes. SJCC has agreements with UC Davis, UC Riverside and UC Santa Cruz.
How much does it cost?
UC fees are approximately $3,500 per year for California residents. Students
who are not California residents also must pay out-of-state fees of $10,074
each year. In addition to fees, students must consider books, living expenses,
transportation into their education costs. The location of each UC campus affects
the costs at that campus. Financial aid
is available at all campuses. Click here for UC
