Work Experience Department
The SJCC Work Experience Program enables working students to earn college credit for the time and effort they spend at work to improve job skills and performance. Students learn that setting goals and writing job-related learning objectives can link what they learn in the classroom to what they learn at work. In this program, no classroom time is required. Your workplace is your classroom.
Earn units toward DEGREE or TRANSFERImprove GRADE POINT AVERAGE Save TIME– No classroom time required
Students can earn one unit of credit for each 75 hours (5 hours weekly) of paid work during the semester or 60 hours (4 hours weekly) of unpaid volunteer time. GWE is repeatable to a maximum of 6 units.
Please check under WORK EXPERIENCE in the SJCC Class Schedule to find the 5-digit section number to add. Match the number of hours of work to the number of college credits you want to earn this semester.
Students are required to submit a new application each semester. The application should be sent to the WE instructors in one of two ways:
Send electronically to appropriate WE instructor. Download the paper form and drop off in the WE night drop box at Room 308A in the 300 building, which is located in the center and toward the back of the campus.
