Reading and Writing Center

The Reading and Writing Center (RWC), part of SJCC's Learning Resources Center, offers a supportive, friendly, and comfortable environment for both quiet study and one-on-one tutoring assistance. Students are welcome at the RWC throughout the semester.

Our services include:

  • Drop-in assistance, from peer tutors and English instructors, for reading and writing assignments for any SJCC course

  • Scheduled appointments for tutoring

  • Resources for improving reading and writing skills, such as dictionaries, handbooks, and handouts on MLA and APA documentation & formatting, grammar, organization, proofreading, and more

  • Computers connected to the internet for school work (Canvas, writing, and research)

  • 'Lunch and Learn' monthly workshop sessions

  • Assistance with university applications and personal statements

  • WST practice & preparation

Our RWC tutoring program has been certified by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA), for meeting professional standards in peer tutor training and skills.
