Humanities and Social Sciences

The Photography Program at San José City College is dual in thrust. We aim to prepare students to transfer to four year colleges, institutions , universities, and art or technical schools, as well as to prepare students and retrain people for new and emerging jobs in the photo and digital imagery fields. Photography enables us to learn about ourselves and our environment, as well as others. It provides a medium for exchange of information and ideas. Through small classes, individualized instruction coupled with both wet and digital darkroom environments, we offer our students the best opportunity to draw upon the past to prepare for a productive and satisfying future.

Facilities:

San José City College has excellent, well maintained Photography facilities. We have a lecture/studio space, a twenty person black and white traditional lab that is outfitted with Omega 4 x 5 enlargers, a color lab which features a Kreonite Type C color processor and ten Omega enlarging stations, and a large space for film developing, mounting, and special processes.
