Departments
San José City College's Language Arts Division includes the Departments of
English,
ESL,
Journalism, and
Reading, as well as the
Reading / Writing Center . Developing writers, degree seekers, literature lovers, and language learners are among the diverse students who find the courses they are looking for in this division.
Students can enroll in day, evening, and weekend courses on the centrally located San José City College campus. The Language Arts Division also provides classes off the campus in the San José business community. Pursuing education in San José City College's Language Arts classes is always possible for busy Silicon Valley residents because accelerated classes and mini-semester courses are available.
A dedicated team of instructors teaches in all departments of the Language Arts Division. Active in the San José community and the Silicon Valley, the instructors use a learner-centered approach to bring students to their desired levels of achievement. Many faculty members regularly publish articles and books along with contributing creative writing to journals.
Laboratories and centers for tutoring and improvement in writing, reading, and language learning are open days and evenings, and they are conveniently located near Language Arts classrooms.
