Women's Softball Coaches Bios

Debbie
Huntze-Rooney:
Debbie Huntze-Rooney is entering her 22nd year as the Head
Softball Coach for the Lady Jaguars. Debbie has lead the Lady Jaguars to eight
Coast Conference Championships, and has taken her team to the State Regional
playoffs 19 years in a row. Debbie has lead the Lady Jags to the Elite Eight
State Playoffs 2007-2008. The team has been ranked third in Northern California.

Debbie has guided the Lady Jaguars to a winning record every year. She has
also received Coast Conference Coach of the year, and Northern California Coach
of the Year Awards. This season she reached the 600th Victory
Milestone.


Coach Huntze-Rooney believes in Academics first, and the Lady Jaguars set
individual and team goals to reach a 3.0 GPA or higher. This year the Lady
Jaguars are ranked 6th in the Nation amongst Community Colleges with a 3.357
GPA (1st in California). The Lady Jaguars have a high transfer rate to the four
year colleges. Many of the Jags have moved onto the four year institutions with
Academic or Athletic Scholarships, and have earned their degrees.



Debbie competed in Softball and Basketball at West Valley College, and
then transferred to Chico State where she played Softball and Field Hockey. She
graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and a minor in English.
She also had the opportunity to be an assistant coach at Chico State both in
Softball and Field Hockey. Debbie moved to Southern California where she taught
Physical Education, and coached Softball and Basketball at Serrano High School.
She also completed her Master's Degree at Azusa Pacific University, and received
her degree in Administration of Education.

      Megan Ink, Assistant Softball Coach

 

Megan Ink is entering her first year as assistant softball coachfor the SJCC Jaguars. Megan comes to this coaching staff with a great dealof knowledge and experience. Ink spentthe last 10 seasons as an assistant coach for Eastern KentuckyUniversity where she assisted in all aspects of the game.   

       

After graduating from Piedmont Hills High School,Ink played two seasons at SJCC where she was named First Team All Conference,selected to All-Northern California Team and helped lead the team tothe Conference Championship in 2000. After receiving her degree from SJCC she received a scholarship and transferred to EKU where she was partof the 2002 OVC championship team. The Colonels advanced to NCAA Regional’swhere they eventually lost to UCLA to knock them out of Regional play. 

 

Upon graduation she began her coaching career at EKU. In 10seasons, Ink helped the Colonels to four top-four finishes in the Ohio ValleyConference, including an OVC championship in 2004. She also spent 2 years asthe head coach for the 16-under travel team KY Xtreme.

 

Megan receivedher Bachelor's Degree in Correctional and Juvenile Justice Studies from EKU in2002. She earned her Master’s Degree from Eastern Kentucky in SportsAdministration in 2006. In the summer of 2007, the former Megan Mills marriedBrian Ink.

 



Jessica Pepin is entering her
first year as an assistant softball coach for the SJCC Jaguars. Jessica will be working closely with the pitchers and catchers. She brings a wealth of
knowledge to the pitchers and a competitive attitude.

Jessica Pepin played at San Jose City College as a Lady Jag her first two years of college. Afterwards, Jessica received a scholarship and transferred to the University of Hilo where she completed her collegiate softball career and her BA in Psychology.  During her four year collegiate career, Jessica was a four time NFCA Academic All American and Phi Theta Kappa member. In 2010, and captain at SJCC, Jessica was awarded a certificate of Outstanding Leadership and Volunteerism, received her AA in Liberal Studies and made second team all
conference. In 2012, Jessica received recognition as PAC West Pitcher of the Week. She is currently applying for various Master Programs in Social Work.
