The Child Development Careers program is designed to prepare Early Childhood Education majors become an Associate Teacher or a Teacher through the California Child Development permit process. Students who participate in the CDC Program will receive an individualized plan mapping out the steps to be taken in order to receive a permit from the state of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Other resources such as memberships for PTRAC, teacher supplies, printing, laminating, and tutoring are available through the Child Development Careers Program at San Jose City College.
To be eligible for the San Jose City College CDC Program, you must:
- Be an Early Childhood Education major
- Be a current or former CalWORKs recipient
- Have the ability to pass fingerprint and background clearance
- Be a US citizen or permanent resident
- Have a TB test clearance
- Apply for financial aid to get paid for permit experience
