Academic Senate
College Planning Council

To counsel and to make recommendations to the President in matters that involve and affect the college as a whole, to include:

  • Recommendations from standing college committees;
  • Recommendations from other campus groups or councils formed to study specific topics or issues affecting the campus at large.
As the primary college council, the CPC will serve as the umbrella group for the various shared governance committees on campus and will bring forward to the President its recommendations, as appropriate, for consideration and implementation.
Facilities Committee The Facilities Planning Committee has been established to ensure that an orderly process will be followed in the planning and construction of new facilities on the campus of San Jose City College as well as the remodeling, or modification of existing facilities. This Committee shall, upon receiving requests, carefully consider the positive and negative impact of the request and make recommendations to the College Planning Council for consideration and recommendation to the President for action as appropriate.
Finance Committee To ensure an open, equitable, and orderly budget process will be instituted and followed in establishing the operational budget of San Jose City College
Safety Committee The Committee is charged with making recommendations to the College Planning Council for consideration by the President related to the following areas of concern:
  • the overall safety of the campus;
  • the emergency preparedness level of the College and its relationship with other external agencies responsible for emergency preparedness;
  • the level of preparedness of the College for health emergencies and health-compromising situations.
The committee will also make recommendations for policy and procedural changes as necessary to the College Planning Council and the President.
Staff Development Committee Offer and enhance staff development opportunities that promote the training and professional development of faculty, classified, supervisory, and administrative personnel. To plan and recommend Instructional Improvement Day activities to the College Planning Council and to the College President for approval.
Student Success Committee Promote student success by serving as an advisory committee to the College Planning Council (CPC) working collaboratively with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Program Review Committee, Academic Senate, and the Associated Student Government.
Technology Committee To gather, analyze, and disseminate information about the use of technology to promote student learning and to improve instructional delivery. To make recommendations to the College Planning Council regarding the planning, acquisition, implementation, and use of computers and other technology equipment and resources to support instructional activities.
