Essential Job Functions: •Under supervision of the Program Supervisor and/or Clinical Manager, implements in-home/community-based intervention for children diagnosed on the autism spectrum. •Travels to home and other community settings, as required, to deliver services. •Responsible for meeting established minimum productivity of 66% billable time, while providing efficient and effective service in all areas of performance. •Completes necessary documentation within required timeframe, including behavioral data collection and graphing, treatment notes, and other company-related documents and current ABA treatment plan for each child. This intensive format is used to adapt classroom goals and IEP implementation to students identified as autistic. This is under the direction of the Director/Manager of Special Education III. Examples of Duties Some specific strategies may include Discrete Trial, schedules of reinforcement, acquisition and generalization, adapting classwork/homework, activities for daily living, intensive behavioral intervention plans specific to autistic profile, visual systems, Picture Exchange Systems (PECS), social skills, and other disability related IEP strategies. May be required to diaper, assist with students in toilet functions and, after District-provided training, catheterization when necessary. Specific drills and related activities will be set by teacher, in collaboration with behavior consultant/specialist. Under direction of the teacher, the paraprofessional implements above systems to fit classroom schedule and routines, works collaboratively with a wide range of school staff, parents, and private agencies for purpose of ensuring a safe and appropriate learning program and environment; maintains student files/records, cares for classroom and instructional equipment, etc. Intensive record keeping needed to implement and monitor ABA program. Does basic record keeping/clerical assistance for teacher when needed to implement student's program. IV. Distinguishing Characteristics The Paraprofessional in this position works exclusively with the special education autism program. V. Examples of Duties Working from a prepared work schedule, sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes concrete, linoleum, tile and wood floors; vacuums rugs and carpets in school plant offices and rooms; cleans and dusts walls, furniture, woodwork and other equipment; washes windows; changes lights; sweeps walks and entrances; washes, scrubs, cleans and polishes metal work such as door panels and handrailings; empties and cleans waste containers; assists in moving or rearranging chairs, tables, desks, furniture and other equipment; maintains equipment used in the course of work; performs special custodial work upon request of faculty members; reports safety, sanitary, and fire hazards; assists in the cleaning of buildings during vacations; takes swim pool readings and makes necessary adjustments on occasions. Employment Standards A. Knowledge of: Modern cleaning methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment; The tools and basic practices of building routine maintenance work. B. Ability to: Meet the public tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships; Understand and carry out oral and written instructions; Perform heavy physical labor; Read and understand directions in use of chemicals and solutions, especially those which could be dangerous to a person's health.
Qualifications / Skills Completion of 10th grade or equivalent or any combination of education, experience and training which meets or exceeds the standards of knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
