SJCCs Advanced Manufacturing Program
Four competitive advantages make AMT one of the nation's leading high tech
sector manufacturing technician training programs:
- AMT's courses and curriculum were developed by SJCC instructors
in collaboration with technicians and engineers from Intel Corporation. This means that you will learn
in the classroom precisely the skills and competencies that are required in
the work place.
- AMT is taught in one of the nation's only virtual reality labs. This means that you will
be able to practice in the class room the problem-solving, tool management
and trouble-shooting that you will encounter in the work place.
- AMT's instructors work in industry or have recent
industry experience. This means that they have great industry contacts and
know exactly what is required for you to succeed in the job market.
- AMT is located in the nation's largest semiconductor center
where the industry supports 450 firms and employs close to 75,000 workers.
This means that you will have access to one of the best semiconductor job
markets in the country.
Electronics 81: This is a non-prerequisite, survey course of the semiconductor
manufacturing industry. Students are introduced to the culture, values and ownership
that exists in this highly competitive industry through team learning in our
simulation clean room. Students also spend significant time in our virtual
reality software performing simulations designed to replicate factory and tool-set
excursions. This course combines the form SMT 80 and 81 courses.
Electronics 82: Semiconductor Manufacturing Tool Sets presents an in-depth
"hands on" study of equipment used across the semiconductor manufacturing
industry. A detailed study of tool operations, periodic, preventative and predictive
maintenance along with troubleshooting and maintenance management skills are
explored in "industry styled" teams.
This program is offered conjointly with Mission College in Santa Clara.
Students can take courses at either courses, with at least one course in the
program offered exclusively at each college.
