Achieving the Dream is a multiyear national initiative to help more community college students succeed. The initiative is particularly concerned about student groups that traditionally have faced significant barriers to success, including students of color and low-income students.
Too many students leave community colleges without earning a certificate or degree, or without transferring to continue their studies. Consequently, they risk losing the opportunity to earn a livable wage. |

On February 16, 2010, the SJCC Academic Senate approved proceeding to obtain a broad engagement of all stakeholders. Voted to support the initiative and proceed with its implementation. Two meetings were held in order to be inclusive of various focus groups constituencies on campus and in the hope that we would have a large turnout to have dialog to determine how the college wants to proceed. |
