President's Message Dear Students and Community Members, Welcome to San José City College! As the new President of SJCC, I can tell you I made the best choice in my career to come to this extraordinary college. I hope you will take advantage of this exceptional and affordable educational opportunity right here in your neighborhood. For over 85 years, San José City College has served as one of the Silicon Valley's premiere institutions of higher education. SJCC is a dynamic, exciting community of faculty, staff, and students. As a college with great diversity, we also bring a global perspective to both our students and our curriculum. We offer first-class academic instruction, numerous mentoring and support programs, exciting opportunities for personal growth, and a student-centered philosophy that drives everything we do here. SJCC is committed to social justice and community, and we strive to be accessible to all learners who wish to improve their skills, better their lives, or reach their dreams. At San José City College, our goal is to provide the best possible educational experience to each of our students. Our commitment to diversity helps us lead our students on journeys of discovery, leadership, and community. Our campus continues to change as we construct new buildings and facilities to support our students and expand our successful programs. San José City College is now the "newest" traditional campus in the Silicon Valley. We have already completed new buildings for Science, Technology, Learning Resources, and Student Services. As this catalog goes to press, we are well underway on our new Applied Sciences and Cosmetology buildings. As President, I sincerely thank the community members for their financial support which will enable us to create the "new look" for SJCC. The college catalog contains a wealth of information about our academic and technical programs, but SJCC is much more than just our programs. SJCC is also a beautiful campus filled with a diverse, supportive faculty and staff.
