High School Admission

High School Students Under the Age of 18

Such students must be attending high school part-time and have an Attendance Approval form for Special Part-Time High School students (R-40) completed and filed in the Admissions & Records Office. Special part-time students are limited to enrolling in no more than 12 units, in courses that provide "advanced scholastic or vocational work as enrichment opportunities for a limited number of students."

Students enrolling in classes under this program must be registering for classes of at least Reading and Writing Level 2, as stated in the Schedule of Classes and the College Catalog. Students will not be admitted to Basic Skills classes below college level.

Students requesting admission to Open Curriculum or Skill Development Classes (Music, Ceramics, etc.) must show mastery above the first level of proficiency in the college discipline.

A parent of a student under 18, not attending high school, or of a student who has not completed the 8th grade, may petition the Dean of Counseling for special admission as a part-time student. Forms (R-42) for this purpose are available in the Office of Admissions and Records.
