Debbie Huntze-Rooney is entering her 16th year as the Head Softball Coach for the Lady Jaguars. Debbie has lead the Lady Jaguars to four Coast Conference Championships, and has taken her team to the State Regional playoffs 14 years in a row. The team has been ranked fourth in Northern California. Debbie has guided the Lady Jaguars to a winning record every year. She has also received Coast Conference Coach of the year, and Northern California Coach of the Year Awards.
Coach Huntze-Rooney believes in Academics first, and the Lady Jaguars set individual and team goals to reach a 3.0 GPA or higher. This year the Lady Jaguars were ranked 14th in the Nation amongst Community Colleges with a 3.012 GPA (First in California). The Lady Jaguars have a high transfer rate to the four year colleges. Many of the Jags have moved onto the four year institutions with Academic or Athletic Scholarships, and have earned their degrees.
Debbie competed in Softball and Basketball at West Valley College, and then transferred to Chico State where she played softball and Field Hockey. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and a minor in English. She also had the opportunity to be an assistant coach at Chico State both in Softball and Field Hockey. Debbie moved to Southern California where she taught Physical Education, and coached Softball and Basketball at Serrano High School. She also worked on her Master's Degree as Azusa Pacific University, and received her degree in Administration of Education. She is married to husband Paul and has two children, Kayla and Kyle. |
