Debbie Huntze-Rooney:Debbie Huntze-Rooney is entering her 20th year as the Head Softball Coach for the Lady Jaguars, 17 years in a row to Regionals Playoffs, 19th in the Nation amongst Community Colleges with a Team GPA of 3.02 (1st in California). Debbie has lead the Lady Jaguars to six Coast Conference Championships, and has taken her team to the State Regional playoffs 17 years in a row. Debbie has lead the Lady Jags to the Elite Eight State Playoffs 2007-2008. The team has been ranked third in Northern California.
Debbie has guided the Lady Jaguars to a winning record every year. She has also received Coast Conference Coach of the year, and Northern California Coach of the Year Awards. This past season she reached the 500th Victory Milestone.
Coach Huntze-Rooney believes in Academics first, and the Lady Jaguars set individual and team goals to reach a 3.0 GPA or higher. This year the Lady Jaguars are ranked 19th in the Nation amongst Community Colleges with a
3.02 GPA (1st in California). The Lady Jaguars have a high transfer rate to the four year colleges. Many of the Jags have moved onto the four year institutions with Academic or Athletic Scholarships, and have earned their degrees.
Debbie competed in Softball and Basketball at West Valley College, and then transferred to Chico State where she played Softball and Field Hockey. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education and a minor in English. She also had the opportunity to be an assistant coach at Chico State both in Softball and Field Hockey. Debbie moved to Southern California where she taught Physical Education, and coached Softball and Basketball at Serrano High School. She also worked on her Master's Degree as Azusa Pacific University, and received her degree in Administration of Education. She is married to husband Paul and has two children, Kayla and Kyle.

Toni Joyner :Toni Joyner is in her 9th year of coaching at SJCC. She has been giving private pitching lessons for 17 years. Her primary function with the softball team is working with the pitchers. Toni brings a positive, supportive, and strong-willed attitude to the team. She knows how to get the team fired up with her competitive attitude.

 

 







Coach Rachael Picture

Rachel Saenz is entering her 5th year of coaching at SJCC. She was a graduate of Milpitas high School, and transferred to San Jose City College. Rachel played two years of softball for the Jags, and was an outstanding leader as a captain. She then transferred to San Jose State and is currently working on getting her degree in Kinesiology. Rachel brings positive energy to the team and much knowledge with the game of softball. She works well with all the players, and is especially helpful with the pitchers and catchers, positions she once played.

 

 

 

 

J Montez

Jenny Montez is entering her first year of coaching at SJCC.  She graduated from Wilcox High school in 2006 and attended San Jose City College for two years.  Jenny played softball as a Jaguar for two years and was selected to the All-Northern California Team and made 1st Team All-Conference. She transferred to Cal State Monterey Bay and continued her softball career there.  From CSUMB she graduated in 2010 with a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences.  Jenny brings a strong work ethic to the team. She will spend time with each player to improve on their skills, and encourage them to do their best.

 

 

 

 

Debbie DuranDebbie Duran is entering her first year of coaching at SJCC.  She graduated from Oak Grove High school where she played softball and then attended San Jose City College.  Debbie played two years at SJCC College as a Jaguar where she pitched and played first base.  She was selected to the All-State team, pitcher of the year and 1st Team All-Conference.  She then transferred to Cal-State University Northridge and played Division 1 softball for the Matadors where her main focus was on pitching.  Debbie brings competitiveness to the team and her knowledge about the game of softball.  She works with the players to improve their skills as a student athlete.
