Introduction to Library Resources

This independant-studies course
covers organization of materials in the library and the use of basic library
resources, including the public catalog, periodical indexes, dictionaries,
general encyclopedias, non-book materials, online databases, and the Internet.
Emphasis is placed on learning to identify, locate, and use basic library
resources.
LIBRARY STUDIES 022
Internet Research Strategies
1.0 unit
This online course focuses on using
the World Wide Web to access information useful for completing class assignments
in academic subject areas. In addition to learning how to formulate searches
and locate appropriate information, students will learn how to evaluate information
and how to document information found via Web searches.
LIBRARY STUDIES 015
Electronic Research and the Internet 3.0 units
This online course provides hands-on training for students doing course-related
or personal research using the Internet and other electronic resources. Students
will learn criteria for evaluating and comparing print and electronic resources.
They will learn how to document and cite resources. The World Wide Web and
e-mail will be discussed and used.
All courses are transferable.
