MISSION AND GOALS

Service Learning Program Mission and Goals

Mission Statement:
To create a lasting partnership between the college and the community that fosters continuing discussion between both parties, so that the project is directly responsive to and shaped by the community.

Goals:
To bring the life experiences of diverse peoples into the consciousness of the college community.

To create situations in which faculty, staff, and students can interact with the whole community, including the poor and misunderstood.

To integrate and supplement theory with practice in the curriculum of the college so that concern for the welfare of our community is at the heart of the educational effort of the college, not at its periphery.

To promote enhanced learning by all students, and especially those who learn best experientially.
