SJCC Laser Technology Workforce Talent

Pipeline Project Investment

We invite alumni and friends of the San Jose City College Laser Technology Department to invest and enable us to:

  • Inform our community about career opportunities in laser technology
  • Sponsor marketing and advertising efforts to promote the Laser Technology Program

Find out from your Human Resources department if your employer has a matching gift program and your annual donation/investment to the SJCC Laser Technology Workforce Talent Pipeline Project could be doubled.

As a benefactor, we will acknowledge your/your company's investment on our San José City College Laser Department landing page at the following levels:

  • Platinum $ 2000
  •  Gold $1000
  • Silver $500

Platinum investors will be acknowledged in advertisements.  We also plan to have an annual SJCC Laser Technology Workforce Talent Pipeline event to thank supporters such as you and your company for your generosity.

We are recruiting for our next semester, and we hope you will be able to make your tax-deductible investment (or pledge) below as soon as possible. All donated funds are sent directly to the San Jose Evergreen Community College District (SJECCD) Foundation.

About the SJCC Laser Tech Program

Welcome to the Laser Technology Program at San Jose City College where you will be able to learn the skills that employers are looking
for in the Laser Technology field.

Our program is vital and relevant because it is continuously
updated based on industry standards and in cooperation with our Advisory and Curriculum Committee chaired by Dr. Norman Hodgson of Coherent Inc.

Emphasis is placed on both theory and hands-on skills, so you learn the vital link between engineers' "blueprints" and their real-world implementations. You will learn how to install, operate, maintain, and modify laser/electro-optic systems throughout the Laser Program.

Employment

Our SJCC Laser Technology students and graduates are highly sought after by labs and manufacturing firms in a variety of industries.
Our first-semester open-entry course, Laser 100, is specifically designed to prepare you for an entry-level technician job with a starting salary more than $40,000 per year.

We strongly encourage our students to graduate with their Laser Technology certificate and Associate degree for an even higher income and employability potential.

Organizations on the cutting-edge of laser electro-optics technology such as MKS Spectra-Physics, Coherent, IPG Photonics, Lumentum, DPSS Lasers, Lawrence Livermore National Labs (LLNL), Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC),Telesis, A-1 Jay’s Machining, Picarro, BD Biosciences, Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision, Cutera, Sciton, Velodyne Lidar  etc. have employed and continue to seek our students and graduates for employment.
