Class Schedule

Beginning Fall 2025, San José City College is adopting the statewide California Course Numbering (CCN) system to make transferring between colleges simpler and more consistent.

Check out some of the new course numbers and names below—and keep these changes in mind when registering for classes!

Here Are the Updates:

  • Intro to Public Speaking (formerly COMS 020) → COMM C1000
  • English Composition (formerly ENGL 001A) → ENGL C1000
  • Critical Thinking (formerly ENGL 001C) → ENGL C1001
  • Political Science (formerly POLSC 001) → POLS C1000
  • General Psychology (formerly PSYCH 010) → PSYC C1000
  • General Psychology Honors (formerly PSYCH 010H) → PSYC C1000H
  • Statistics (formerly MATH 063) → STAT C1000
  • Support for Statistics (formerly MATH 063X) → STAT 1000X

Registration Tip

To find all courses when searching the Class Schedule, be sure to select both subject areas:

  • Communication Studies: COMM and COMS
  • Mathematics: MATH and STAT
  • Political Science: POLS and POLSC
  • Psychology: PSYC and PSYCH

The Schedule of Classes is a detailed listing of all courses offered in a particular term at SJCC. It includes essential information such as course titles, descriptions, dates, times, locations, and instructors.

To register for classes, log in to the Self-Service Portal. Navigate to the Registration tab, search for available classes, add them to your schedule, and confirm your registration.

The Schedule of Classes provides information on current course offerings for a specific term, including schedules and locations. In contrast, the College Catalog offers comprehensive details on program requirements, course descriptions, and academic policies.

Yes. SJCC offers Fast Finish Classes that begin in September and October, allowing students to complete courses in 8 to 12 weeks. SJCC also offers Late Start Classes that begin after the semester starts.

Open Enrollment Policy

It is the policy of the District that, unless specifically exempted by statute, every course, course section, or class (the average daily attendance of which is to be reported for state aid), wherever offered and maintained by the District, shall be fully open to enrollment and participation by any person who has been admitted to the College(s) and who meets such prerequisites as may be established pursuant to Title V of the California Administrative Code, commencing with Section 58100.
