Eligibility

To receive services at the Jaguar Market:

  • Required: Bring your Student ID card and Market Card to each visit
  • EVERYONE on FIRST VISIT of the new year needs to provide 2026 Spring Class Registration
  • Must have a personal yearly income of $36,777.50 or less (no documentation required)
    • Add $12,925.00 yearly for each additional person with income
  • Bring reusable bags - bags are not guaranteed to be available

The Jaguar Market exclusively serves San José City College students. Community members are encouraged to visit the Farmer's Market held on campus twice a month for fresh food.

San José City College hosts a Second Harvest Farmer's Market on-campus each month. Fresh produce, frozen meats, and canned goods are available free to students. Folks are advised to bring their own carts and shopping bags.

Location UPDATE: The SJCC & SHSV Farmer's Markets will be held in Parking Lot D across from the Student Center Building.

Staff are required to ask and record information such as your name, address, household size, and other minimal information regarding your household. You providing this information to staff acknowledges your consent to share this information with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley.

Second Harvest is using TEFAP so that we can continue to distribute food to eligible students.

Yes, the Market is open to non-citizen/resident students who are currently enrolled and have verified eligibility.

There are multiple types of dates (best by, use by, produced on, etc.) associated with food products in the U.S. If you have questions, please ask a staff member or review information available from Second Harvest of Silicon Valley or the USDA.

Most food are safe to eat much longer than the product dates. See posters and handouts in the Market for recommendations.

The Jaguar Market exclusively serves SJCC students.

Verified Market users are permitted to come to the market once per calendar week.

However, Market users may come back daily, only for designated area for Daily Snacks.

We currently do not accept Volunteers at the Jaguar Market.

You can sign up to volunteer with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley Farmer's Market, which we host every 2nd & 4th Fridays. Click the link for more volunteer information and to sign up.

SJCC in collaboration with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, organizes on-campus food distribution events each month on 2nd & 4th Fridays, providing fresh produce, frozen meats, and non-perishable food items free to students.

Start time is 10:00 AM and Ends at 12:00 PM. Please review current schedule on Second Harvest Website for current dates.

Info for New Clients

Register on site. No documents needed. Bring a cart or wagon to carry your groceries. You will receive more food than you can carry by hand. This is a Farmer's Market-style site. You will choose from a variety of foods. WALK-UP ONLY

How Can I Pick Up Food for a Neighbor or Family Member?

If they are a registered client, you may pick up on their behalf with their client ID and name or phone number. If they are not registered and want someone to pick up food for them, please have them call 1-800-984-3663 to receive a client ID.

Distribution Location

TEMPORARY LOCATION CHANGE TO PARKING LOT D for Fall 2025 Semester. Distribution takes place on campus between the Student Center and Sports Complex. Please park in Lots D, E or F.

Yes, this guarantees we are servicing currently enrolled and eligible SJCC students.

No, only current students are eligible to shop at the Jaguar Market. We recommend checking out 211.org to review other helpful community resources.
