ESL COURSES REQUIRE AN Assessment   

Announcement: While our campus facilities are closed through the Summer Session, 

the assessment for ESL Placement has moved online.


If you have completed ESL courses at another community college, 

meet with a counselor online during drop-in hours. Click here to schedule an appointment.


Online ESL Placement

All incoming Credit ESL students are required to take the ESL Placement assessment, which includes a listening, reading, and writing component that is given in a computer format.


Requesting ESL Placement Assessment

To expedite your request for the ESL Placement assessment, please follow these directions:

1.    Students must have a SJCC ID number to register for the exam. If you are a new student, you must apply to become a SJCC student.
a.   If you plan to take Credit ESL classes: click here to submit your CCC Application.
b.   If you plan to take only noncredit ESL classes, complete the Noncredit Application Form and submit it to sjcc.admissions@sjcc.edu.

2.     Complete the ESL Placement Form to request testing for ESL Placement.
