The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) helps determine eligibility for:
- Federal Student Aid – grants, loans, and work-study
- State aid programs – CA College Promise Grant, Cal Grant & Student Success Completion Grant
- Our Federal School Code is 001282
In order to receive aid from year to year, the FAFSA must be renewed annually.
Benefits of having a working FSA ID include:
- Electronically sign the FAFSA
- Electronically sign your student loan application
- Correct, update, renew or review your FAFSA
- View your federal student aid history
- Your parents can get a FSA ID to electronically sign the FAFSA (as applicable)
To apply for aid for the 2019-2020 Academic Year, you will need the following:
Your (and your spouse´s, if you are married) 2017 income information (use the same for both years):
Your (and your spouse's) W-2 forms and other records of income IRS 1040, 1040A, 1040 EZ
The Financial Aid Office may need tax transcripts
Your Parents´ 2017 income information (if you are a dependent student):
2017 untaxed income records
Social Security Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Welfare
Current bank statements, business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond and other investment records (as applicable)
The FAFSA is valid for one academic year. You must renew the FAFSA each academic year you wish to apply for and receive aid:
- The FAFSA is valid from July 1 through June 30 each year – the FAFSA is valid for Summer, Fall, Spring and Summer in that order.
*Example: the 2019-2020 FAFSA is valid from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020 Summer 2019, Fall 2019, Spring 2020 and Summer 2020
NEW!! You may submit a FAFSA starting on October 1 each year, which will take effect the following academic year
*Example: starting October 1, 2019 you may submit the 2020-2021 FAFSA.
- For 2019-2020, you may submit the FAFSA as late as June 30, 2020.
