The Latinx Education Association (L.E.A.) of San José City College serves as an advocacy organization for our Latino community. 

Strives to support social justice and equity for Latinx employees and to advance their Leadership potential and success at San José City College.

  • Supports Latinx students through scholarships and other programs.
  • Committed to promoting the Latinx culture through its sponsorship of campus and other community events. 
  • Involves itself in the educational progress and success of Latinx students by organizing cultural and educational events, such as Latinx Heritage Month, Día de Los Muertos, and La Raza Commencement.                                                                                                           

The mission of the Latinx Education Association is to empower and elevate Latinx individuals and their communities through education and advocacy. We are committed to fostering equitable opportunities and representation in education, bridging cultural divides, and supporting academic excellence. Our organization strives to create an inclusive, supportive, and culturally responsive environment where Latinx students and their families can thrive, achieve their educational aspirations, and contribute meaningfully to society. Through collaboration, outreach, and resourcefulness, we aim to drive positive change, inspiring a brighter future for all Latinx individuals and their communities.

You're cordially invited to join the Latino Education Association (L.E.A.) family, which is committed to supporting SJCC students through various scholarships and programs. L.E.A. organizes numerous events throughout the year, including the La Raza Commencement, Latino Heritage Month, Día de Los Muertos, and our impactful scholarship program.

It's important to note that regardless of your heritage, you can become a valued member of the L.E.A. community. To become a dues-paying member, pL.E.A.se complete a volunteer contribution form. The membership dues for L.E.A. are $10 per month for classified employees and $15 for certificated employees. However, you're encouraged to contribute more if you're inclined to do so. These dues play a vital role in supporting the programs mentioned above.

La Raza Commencement provides a unique occasion for students and their familias to unite in a bilingual and bicultural ceremony, celebrating this joyous event. Each year, L.E.A. organizes a dedicated commencement ceremony to honor the accomplishments of students transferring, completing their certificates, or earning their associate degrees.
